The Feast of the Annunciation: The Incomparable Example of the Blessed Mother

Christmas is nine months away.  That means that, on this, the Feast of the Annunciation (transferred), while we are focused on the events leading up to the crucifixion, Mary is receiving some news. Unexpected news. Overwhelming news. And replying, "Behold the handmaid of the Lord, be it unto me according to thy word."

Remarkable isn't it?

Mary displayed, for us, an example of absolute obedience...and trust.

Interestingly, it brings to my mind the fact that our children are, ultimately, not our own.  It is our job to raise them up to the Lord, and, to enjoy the unfolding of what he would have them be.  He may have ideas quite different from our own.

He certainly had remarkable plans for the babe that Mary welcomed that day.

God Bless you, and your children, this day.
