Women and Children First!- Episcopal Church USA General Assembly 2012

Our Lady of Walsingham,
*Pray for us*...
A post wherein I do something entirely objectionable, inappropriate, and unfit for viewing by children, because I am thoroughly vexed, and just plain tired....(You have been warned)....

Continuing its trajectory in a direction opposite orthodoxy, my former church, The Episcopal Church USA (ECUSA), has made some significant decisions of late.  At the 2012 general convention, which concludes tomorrow, they have voted to amend church laws to state: "No one shall be denied rights, status or access to an equal place in the life, worship, and governance of this Church because of, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, ..."  So then...the door that opened for the ordination of women has opened a bit wider for transgender individuals to receive Holy Orders.

They have added an additional treat, by voting to approve a rite for the "blessing" of same sex unions.

Similarly, the Church of England is in the midst of a debate over the possibility of approval of women bishops...

All of which seems to confirm, for conservatives anyway, the prediction that Cannon Edward Norman voiced, as he was heading out the door toward Rome, that Anglicanism will "tip into the sea".

On that note...
This just in!:
Video is now available of the ECUSAs new liturgical rite:

...Now, if you'll kindly excuse me, I need to go put on my waders.  The boat seems to be taking on water at an alarming rate.
May God bless the new Anglican Church in North America.

  1. Michelle,

Thanks for your updates on this issue, I enjoy reading about your perspective on it. Prayers for you as you wade through this. :)

  2. {Hugs}

It's not easy to watch that which you love become so violently, arrogantly desecrated. I'm praying for you and for all those who are dealing with the hurt and betrayal of an organization that once offered you peace and a proper worship of God.

My prayers for them, too, that they have the veil lifted from their eyes and the hardness of their hearts softened.

Really... I wish I could give you an actual hug, because I really do understand how upsetting that is. Blessings to you.

  3. I completely understand. I too was a member of the Episcopal church and left just after women were ordained. Years ago I did find much solace in the Eucharist there and in the fellowship at the small church we attended. Now, many of the older members are in shock at the decisions of the national church. Several have become Catholic, as have I. Praying for the Episcopal church.

  4. Lord have mercy! It is so sad to see churches throw out tradition in favor of changing times. Even the Roman Catholic church has done this in many ways. Good for you and your family for recognizing this as the abomination that it really is. I know so many former episcoplians in the orthodox church.

  5. That video is so bizarre that it seems to have come straight to you from the Holy Spirit. Get out of the Titanic! It IS taking on water at an alarming rate and sinking fast.
The beauty of this (not the ECUSA) is that YOUR eyes are open. This is just a sign of the times my dear, as much as I hate to wear out that expression. Just one more example of how political correctness has superseded scripture and church tradition.

    What will you do?

    1. We are in the Anglican Diocese of San Joaquin, which separated from the Episcopal Church USA in 2007. We initially sought provincial oversite from the Anglican Diocese of the Southern Cone for the interim, and then, with a number of other dioceses which have separated, formed the Anglican Church in North America.
My reaction is one of sorrow for those who have not left, as we have.
