First Monday in Advent 2012 - In Pictures

Our ornaments from the swap came today!

We waited until devotions for "the unboxing."

Every ornament is special.  What a tremendous amount of the time and prayer went in to this project from all corners of the US, and from Canada too!

We're a tad bit behind, so we did three ornaments tonight:

Jesse Tree or Stump 1 Samuel 16:1-13
Adam (sun or earth) Genesis 1:24-28
Eve (Apple and Snake) Genesis 3: 1-24

And so begins the story of our redemption and hope in Christ Jesus!

~~~~~
Almighty God, give us grace to cast away the works of darkness, and put on the armor of light, now in the time of this mortal life in which your Son Jesus Christ came to visit us in great humility; that in the last day, when he shall come again in his glorious majesty to judge both the living and the dead, we may rise to the life immortal; through him who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. (Collect, Advent 1, BCP- PD US)
(By the way, this Jesse Tree ornament swap has been such a blessing!  We are so grateful for the time and effort that everyone put in, especially Jessica, who hosted...that I am considering "paying it forward" by hosting a swap of my own next year.  If you think you may be interested in participating, leave a comment so I can put you on a list as a "first contact" if I end up doing that.)
Blessed Advent!
  1. We weren't able to participate in the swap this year, but I would love to next year. Please let me know if you decide to do it.
    The ornaments look so beautiful. I like the idea of using 3 dimensional ornaments.
